The ranking comes from a panel of over 1,000 travel professionals

Grama and Gjipe Bay, two of the most beautiful and authentic beaches along the Albanian Riviera, have been recognised in the prestigious list of the 50 best beaches in Europe for 2025. This ranking was determined through a selection process that involved around 1,000 travel professionals, acclaimed “beach ambassadors,” and a specialised international jury.

Grama Bay is ranked 12th, while Gjipe Bay comes in at 30th. Both beaches have outperformed some of the most famous destinations along the coasts of Spain, Italy, Greece, and France, which have long been favourites among global visitors.

The annual selection is conducted by The World’s 50 Best Beaches, a recognised global platform for beach rankings frequently cited by Forbes. To be included on this list, beaches must meet several criteria related primarily to nature, tranquillity, and the overall experience they provide. The key requirement is that the beach must be unique, with a landscape that stands out, is authentic, free from overcrowding and noise, unspoiled, ideal for reconnecting with nature, and, of course, offers breathtaking views. Travel professionals who vote for the beaches must submit compelling descriptions, which are then reviewed by beach ambassadors and international experts who finalise the rankings based on these criteria.

Grama Bay, now part of this esteemed list, is one of the gems of the Ionian coast. Here, the sea carves its way between rocky cliffs, creating a stunning beach with crystal-clear waters and a unique blend of colours. On the other hand, Gjipe Bay, located at the entrance of a spectacular canyon, has become a symbol of ecotourism and adventure in Albania. Accessible by both land and sea, this bay features breathtaking scenery and an almost untouched, rarely explored natural environment.

The addition of these two bays to the ranking highlights Albania’s wealth of invaluable natural resources. The country is steadily emerging as one of the Mediterranean’s premier destinations, thanks to its breathtaking landscapes, improving infrastructure, and ambitious development projects.
